Kano Police, Taskforce Strengthen Partnership Against Drug Trafficking, Thuggery

The Kano State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against thuggery, drug trafficking and other related crimes through closer collaboration with the Kano State Multi-Agency Taskforce on Drugs and Illicit Trafficking.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, gave the assurance while receiving the Chairman of the taskforce, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, and his delegation on a courtesy and working visit to the Command Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

Speaking during the visit, Magaji said the delegation was at the command to introduce the leadership of the taskforce, present its 2026 operational plan and seek stronger collaboration in tackling drug abuse and illicit trafficking across the state. He commended the police command for its intelligence-driven approach to crime fighting and pledged the taskforce’s support through advocacy, community engagement, public enlightenment and intelligence gathering.

In his response, Bakori described drug abuse and illicit trafficking as major drivers of thuggery, popularly known as Fadan Daba, particularly within the Kano metropolis.

He stressed that addressing the menace required sustained cooperation among security agencies and pledged the command’s support through joint operations, intelligence sharing, technical assistance and deployment of tactical resources.

The commissioner also appealed to parents, traditional and religious leaders, as well as other community stakeholders, to support security agencies with timely information and preventive measures aimed at protecting young people from drug abuse.

He warned that individuals involved in illicit drug trafficking, drug peddling or thuggery would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
