The Joint Unions of Tertiary Institutions of Kaduna State-JUTIKS have called on the State Government to fulfil its promise to implement the outstanding 30 per cent of the CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure for staff of tertiary institutions.
The unions made the call in a communiqué issued and signed by the Chairman Comrade Usman Shehu Suleiman, and read by the Public Relations Officer of the Unions, Comrade Umar Faruq Goma at the end of their meeting held at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria.
The Unions appealed to the State Government to complete the remaining 30 per cent, which they said the Governor had promised to implement by the first quarter of 2026.
They also demanded the implementation of the earlier 25 per cent and 35 per cent Federal Government wage allowances.
Other demands include the issuance of an establishment circular for the implementation of the 65-year or 40-year retirement age for non-teaching staff.
JUTIKS further called for the exclusion of Academic Earned Allowance (AEA) and other allowances from taxation.
The Joint Unions also demanded the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance (CATA), which is 40 per cent of 100 per cent CONPCASS, and the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tool Allowance (CONTTA), which is 35 per cent of 100 per cent CONTEDISS.
According to the Unions, the demands were necessary to promote uniform standards in tertiary institutions, particularly those regulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
The Communiquè maintained that meeting the demands would help standardise tertiary institutions across Kaduna State and promote industrial harmony.
The joint unions appreciated Governor Uba Sani for the implementation of 70 per cent of CONPCASS/CONTEDISS in October 2025, saying the development had improved the welfare of staff in the state’s tertiary institutions.
They however, appealed to the state government to give the demands the deserved attention.
JUTIKS comprises Unions from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences, Kaduna, and Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, Makarfi.
