The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has inaugurated the Tinubu/Abba Grassroots Mobilisation Association in the state.
Waiya, while inaugurating the association at Sa’adu Zungur Hall, Mambayya House, Gwammaja, Kano, charged members to strengthen grassroots engagement and mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 general elections.
He said the association, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Naziru Zakari Sheka, comprised former elected officials from the 44 Local Government Areas, including former councillors, vice chairmen and chairmen who served between 1997 and 1998.
The commissioner described the members’ political experience, networks and connections with communities as valuable assets for effective grassroots mobilisation, urging them to use the platforms to communicate government policies, programmes and achievements while also conveying citizens’ concerns to relevant authorities.
Waiya said political mobilisation should go beyond rallies and gatherings to include sustained community outreach, public enlightenment and direct interaction with citizens, urging members to operate with unity, discipline, respect and integrity. He also urged the association to work towards strengthening the political base of Tinubu and Yusuf across the state.
The ceremony featured the presentation of appointment letters to some prominent personalities appointed as patrons of the association, while Waiya received a Special Recognition of Excellence Award for his contributions to grassroots mobilisation and public service. The association’s chairman and other leaders pledged to build a formidable grassroots structure across the 44 LGAs and mobilise support for the re-election of Tinubu and Yusuf.
