The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has inaugurated its 251-member Governorship Campaign Council ahead of the February 2027 governorship election.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Director Media and Publicity of the Campaign Council, Suleiman Ibrahim.
Inaugurating the council on Friday in Jalingo, State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba Saleh, charged directors and members to work assiduously for the party’s victory and to put the interest of the state above personal gains.
He said the council must work to rescue the state from its present condition.
Governorship candidate, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, promised a responsible, responsive and all-inclusive government that would launch Taraba on the path of growth and development if elected, the statement said.
Bwacha had accused the Gov. Agbu Kefas-led APC administration of misrule and corruption that has set the state backward, adding that divisive politics would end under his watch.
He described the level of impunity and corruption in the state as heartbreaking and assured that measures have been put in place to ensure a transparent, credible and free election.
Chairman of the Campaign Council, Ambassador Hassan Jika Ardo, assured that members would work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The event was attended by hundreds of party loyalists, stakeholders and leaders.
Bwacha was the flagbearer of the APC in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
