Gwarzo Local Government Council has launched a 2024 tree planting campaign to mitigate the effects of climate change, deforestation, and soil erosion.
The campaign, flagged off by Interim Management Committee Chairman Dr. Mani Tsoho, aims to plant 10,000 trees, with each household expected to plant a single tree.
Dr. Tsoho emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and responsibility towards natural resources.
The Head of Agric Department, Aminu Ali, announced that seedlings are available for collection free of charge.
The District Head of Gwarzo, Alh. Shehu Kabiru Bayero, highlighted the spiritual and religious benefits of tree planting and directed village and ward heads to monitor and sanction indiscriminate tree cutting.
