The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reiterated that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
In a statement, the Command commended the prompt intervention and sense of civic responsibility demonstrated by Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, whose swift action was said to have saved the lives of victims in a recent incident.
The Police described the doctor’s conduct as exemplary, noting that his humane response reflects the kind of cooperation needed between citizens and security agencies to safeguard lives.
The Command also cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that such actions could undermine justice and lead to unintended consequences.
Residents were advised to report suspected offenders to the nearest police station or relevant security agencies for proper investigation and lawful prosecution.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to the protection of lives and property across the state.
It added that the Command would continue to ensure the maintenance of law, order, justice, and civility in all parts of the state.
