The Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Director of FM Stations, Kano State Radio Corporation, Hajiya Habiba Abubakar.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Secretary of the council, Hauwa Suleiman Zahradeen, the Acting Chairman of the council, Comrade Mustapha Gambo Muhammad, described the death of the veteran broadcaster as a great loss to the media profession and the state.
Muhammad said the news of her passing was received with shock and sadness by journalists, family members, friends and professional colleagues, noting that the deceased had made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of broadcasting in Kano State.
He described Hajiya Habiba as a humble, dedicated and hardworking professional who served the Kano State Radio Corporation with commitment and distinction throughout her career.
The NUJ chairman commiserated with the family of the deceased, the management and staff of the Kano State Radio Corporation, and the entire media community in the state over the loss.
He prayed to Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and give her family, friends and colleagues the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
