Security operatives in Katsina State have foiled a bandits’ attack and recovered 117 livestock stolen during a raid on two communities in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed that the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that heavily armed bandits had attacked Saburu and Billiri villages, making away with livestock belonging to residents.

According to him, police operatives, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, swiftly mobilised to block the suspected escape routes of the attackers.

Sadiq said the security team engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing the criminals to flee into a nearby forest and abandon the stolen animals.

He said a total of 117 livestock comprising 43 cattle and 74 sheep were successfully recovered during the operation.

The police spokesman added that security operatives had intensified efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, while reiterating the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
