Politically and in good governance, a true leader is one who has the confidence to entrust close associates with the responsibility of representing him at important engagements and making critical decisions when necessary.
This is exactly what Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf demonstrated by delegating his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, to represent him at the Northern Nigeria Governors’ Security Meeting.
The Deputy Governor’s representation reflected the high level of trust and teamwork within the Kano State Government. At the meeting, Garo presented the state’s position on the need to strengthen collaboration among Northern states and security agencies to address terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities threatening the region.
Governor Yusuf deserves commendation for giving his deputy the opportunity to play such a significant role in government affairs. This demonstrates that the Kano State Government operates on the principles of teamwork, shared responsibility, and institutional continuity rather than concentrating authority in one individual.
Political observers have noted that this style of leadership fosters confidence among senior government officials and ensures that governance continues seamlessly, even in the governor’s absence. It also promotes effective succession planning and strengthens public institutions.
Ultimately, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo’s participation in the Northern Nigeria Security Meeting underscores the Kano State Government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the North. It also highlights the administration’s willingness to contribute meaningfully to regional efforts aimed at restoring peace, stability, and sustainable development across Northern Nigeria.
