The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its long-standing relationship with the Republic of Sudan through enhanced cooperation in healthcare, education, commerce and cultural exchange.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, stated this while receiving the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Nigeria, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullahi Haroon, on behalf of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Government House, Kano.
Garo said Kano and Sudan shared centuries-old historical ties rooted in common religious, cultural, educational and commercial heritage, adding that the enduring relationship had continued to provide a solid foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships between the two peoples.
He also conveyed the sympathy of the Kano State Government and its people to the Government and people of Sudan over the humanitarian challenges arising from the ongoing conflict in the country. He expressed hope for lasting peace, stability and the speedy recovery of affected communities.
The deputy governor further conveyed the appreciation of the Yusuf administration to the Government of Sudan for offering fully funded scholarships to Kano students, expressing optimism that the gesture would further strengthen the existing partnership and promote educational development for the mutual benefit of both sides.
