The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has warned youths against allowing politicians and criminal elements to use them for political thuggery and cybercrime.

The Commissioner said the campaign is aimed at reclaiming the future of young people from political and digital thuggery, and to engage them in discussions on leadership, security and national development.

The Commissioner stated that the youths are not the problem but the solution, describing them as innovators and leaders of tomorrow. He cautioned them not to allow themselves to be used as tools for violence.

Aliyu added that the security of the state is a shared responsibility, and called on parents, teachers, religious and traditional leaders to support the police in protecting young people from exploitation.

Also speaking, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in harge of Operations, Muhammad Ahmadu, identified hardship, peer pressure and quest for quick money as factors that make youths vulnerable. He warned them against accepting money from politicians during elections.

Ahmadu further cautioned youths against cybercrime and drug abuse, urging them to pursue education, skills acquisition and legitimate businesses instead of fraud and violence.

He challenged young people to choose a future of dignity over crime, and to use social  media to promote positive values.
