Kaduna Quality Assurance Authority Engages Stakeholders on Education Standards

The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority has organised a two-day community engagement and sensitisation programme aimed at strengthening collaboration among education stakeholders and addressing challenges affecting the quality of education in the state.

The programme was held at the Alhuda Huda College Assembly Hall, Zaria.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Authority, Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria, said the engagement brought together quality assurance officers, principals, vice principals, head teachers, education secretaries and other key stakeholders.

He said the participants were expected to discuss challenges confronting the education sector and develop practical solutions to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the state.

According to him, the programme was also designed to remind educators of their responsibilities and the need for commitment, sacrifice, effective supervision and dedication to the education and training of children.

The DG commended Gov. Uba Sani for prioritising education, noting that the administration had allocated at least 25 per cent of the state budget to the sector since assuming office.

He also highlighted government efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children and promote skills development, stressing that education was a collective responsibility that required the support of government, educators, traditional institutions, parents and communities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Engr. Jamilu Ahmad Muhammad, commended the Director-General for organising the engagement, describing it as an important platform for education stakeholders to share experiences and find solutions to challenges confronting the sector.

He expressed hope that the discussions would have a positive impact on principals, teachers, students and the wider community, while commending Gov. Uba Sani for his commitment to education, grassroots development and institutional strengthening in Kaduna State.

Also speaking, the District Head of Waje, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu Durumbun Zazzau, commended the state government for providing moral and financial support to the Quality Assurance Authority.
He expressed hope that the Authority would eventually be upgraded to a commission with broader responsibilities, including recruitment and disciplinary matters within the education system.

In her goodwill message, the Deputy Director, Centre for Girls Child Education, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar, commended the efforts of the Quality Assurance Authority and called on school principals and teachers to strengthen supervision and monitoring.

She stressed that effective oversight was essential to achieving the desired standards in the education sector.
