A kidnapped couple, Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, have appealed to the government and security agencies to secure their release from their abductors.
The appeal was contained in a viral video in which Zakka pleaded for assistance, alleging that the kidnappers were demanding N300 million as ransom.
“My name is Ahmed Abubakar Zakka. I’m seeking assistance. I was abducted on Monday around 11:30 p.m., myself, my wife and our daughter at Millennium City.
“Please, we are seeking assistance because they are demanding N300 million. In the name of God, we are seeking assistance,” he said.
The family was reportedly abducted on Oct. 6, when bandits attacked Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at about 11:30 p.m.
Reports indicated that the assailants moved from house to house during the attack, abducting residents, including the couple and their infant daughter.
Further reports indicated that a pregnant woman was also abducted during the incident while her husband, Abdulkadir Bello, was away in Abuja on a business trip.
Bello reportedly said his wife called him around 11:30 p.m. to inform him that some people were attempting to force their way into their compound.
He said he tried contacting the police but could not reach them before contacting the military, which deployed personnel to the area.
Bello later confirmed that the attackers had taken his pregnant wife and contacted him to demand ransom.
A family member of Zakka, who requested anonymity, told *Daily Trust* that the couple were both orphans who had been married for six years without a child before welcoming their daughter, Fatima, six months ago.
The relative appealed to the authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the safe and unconditional release of the couple, their baby and other victims.
As of the time of this report, there was no official information on the whereabouts of the abducted victims or any confirmed security operation to secure their release.
