Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has urged his supporters to remain calm following the omission of his name from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election.
Pantami made the appeal in a statement issued on his behalf by Prof. Suleiman Mohammed Gombe on Saturday.
The statement said Pantami emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate following a fresh primary election conducted on Sept. 29, 2026, in compliance with an order of the Federal High Court.
It expressed concern over the omission, acknowledging the anxiety it had generated among PDP members and supporters of the Pantamiyya Movement across Gombe State and beyond.
“We wish to assure all our supporters to remain calm, steadfast and hopeful. This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination,” the statement said.
It added that Pantami’s legal and liaison teams were engaging with the relevant party organs and INEC to ensure compliance with the court order and rectification of the omission within the period allowed by law.
The statement, however, alleged that some individuals were working behind the scenes to frustrate what it described as responsible leadership in the state.
It urged supporters to sustain their mobilisation and remain focused on the campaign’s commitment to service to humanity.
The statement reaffirmed the PDP and Pantamiyya Movement’s commitment to their political objectives, expressing optimism that the matter would be resolved.
It called on supporters to remain united and avoid distractions as the process continued.
