Residents of Gora Town in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State have appealed to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to fulfil his earlier promise to establish an entrepreneurship and skills acquisition school in the town.
The community, in an open reminder signed by Halilu Gwanda Gora on its behalf, said the proposed institution would equip young people with practical skills, promote self-reliance, create employment opportunities and reduce economic dependency.
According to the appeal, “Governor Zulum made the promise during an official visit to Katsina State under the administration of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari when he attended the commissioning of roads and Government Day Secondary School in Gora Town.”
The community recalled that the proposed entrepreneurship and skills acquisition school was intended to empower youths with vocational and entrepreneurial skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of their community.
Gora residents expressed concern that the promise remained unfulfilled, while young people in the town continued to look forward to the establishment of the institution. They stressed that the project would represent a significant investment in human capital development and open up opportunities for future generations.
“We have not forgotten this promise and our youths are still waiting with hope. Insha Allah, this school will change many lives, create jobs and reduce dependency in our community,” the appeal stated.
The community urged Governor Zulum to revisit the commitment and take the necessary steps towards its realisation, expressing confidence in his leadership and commitment to development.
The residents further noted that establishing the school would help address youth unemployment by providing opportunities for vocational training, entrepreneurship and productive engagement, enabling beneficiaries to contribute to the economic growth of Gora Town and its surrounding communities.
They expressed hope that the governor would give favourable consideration to their appeal and fulfil the promise, which they believe would have a lasting impact on the lives of young people.
The statement concluded with prayers for Allah to reward Governor Zulum, continue to guide him and grant him the wisdom and strength to fulfil the request.
The appeal was signed by Halilu Gwanda Gora on behalf of the Gora Community, Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
