Dawakin Tofa Concerned Citizens has commended Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State for nominating Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa as Commissioner, describing the development as a recognition of loyalty, competence and service.
The group said the nomination marked a significant milestone for Dawakin Tofa, making Bature the 10th person from the community to be nominated as commissioner in Kano State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the group’s Secretary, Ibrahim Yaro Dawakin Tofa, and made available to newsmen in Kano.
The group expressed appreciation to the governor for recognising the contributions of its son and giving him another opportunity to serve the state at a higher level of responsibility.
It described Bature’s progression from Chief Press Secretary to Director-General, Media and Publicity, and now commissioner, as three successive promotions within three years.
According to the group, the development reflects the governor’s confidence in Bature’s leadership, competence, loyalty and capacity to deliver results.
It described him as a public relations expert, strategic communication specialist and grassroots politician who had demonstrated a strong understanding of political communication and public engagement.
The statement listed the nine previous commissioners from Dawakin Tofa as Abdu Dawakin Tofa, Magaji Abdullahi, Faizu Baffa Yola, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Mahmoud Baffa, Alasan Dawaki, Muhammad Nadu Yahaya, Muazu Magaji Dan Sarauniya and Idris Wada Sale.
The group said Bature’s nomination was a source of pride to the community and an affirmation of Dawakin Tofa’s longstanding contributions to the political and administrative development of Kano State.
It also described the development as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the state government and the people of Dawakin Tofa.
The group reaffirmed its support for Yusuf’s administration and urged Bature to regard the nomination as a renewed call to greater service, responsibility and accountability.
It expressed confidence that he would justify the trust reposed in him by the governor and the people of Kano State.
The statement also prayed for Allah’s guidance and wisdom for the nominee as he prepares to assume his new responsibilities.
