Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state has called on the Military to persist in taking the battle to Bandits’ doorstep as a major panacea to the lingering insurgency in the state
The Governor was speaking when he received a visiting team of members of the Army War College of Nigeria who were on a study visit to the Operation Hadarin Daji in the state.
Matawalle said that if the Military adopts total pro-active measures, the issue of banditry in the state will soon become thing of the past.
According to him , the Military is overstretched and also in need of modern equipments at the moment and advised for re-engagement of retired Military officers into the service .
He also assured that his administration has noted the commendable efforts Of the Military in the state over the years and assured that, he will continue to give his utmost support to their operations until peace is restored in the state.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Major-General U. Bassey commended Governor Matawalle for the support he renders to operating officers in the state.
He re-iterated the committment of the Military in ending all the security challenges facing the country.
The team honoured Governor Matawalle with an award of Excellence before departing the Government House.
