UNESCO-REF oriented the students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano on importance of TAP (The August Project) on Thursday, 23 June, 2022
Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) to spend N500 million to train its students in MAAUN, Kano and MAAUN Maradi, Niger Republic on innovation.
The idea behind the training is to give the students ideas on how best to develop themselves even after graduation.
The Founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo made the disclosure at a lecture organized for students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano, by UNESCO Read and Earn Federation (UNESCO-REF)
He said the students need to be trained so as to innovate and give them ideas on how to find solutions to the multifarious challenges of life confronting the youth in the country.
“We will use the money to give the students ideas because people need to build solutions, they need to think and need to be innovative and come up with a vision,” Prof. Gwarzo said.

In his welcome address, The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr commended the President of UNESCO-REF, Prince Abdulsalami Ladigbolu for taking the pain to lecture the students on the UNESCO-REF programmes.
He said the programme would give the students an opportunity to globalize with a view to establishing contacts for self-development in their life.
Earlier in his presentation, the President of UNESCO-REF, Prince Abdulsalami Ladigbolu said the lecture was aimed at enlightening the students on the importance of UNESCO-REF TAP project which is designed to develop local talents with a view to giving youths the opportunity to become relevant globally and add value to their certificates.
Ladigbolu, who took time to explain the importance of the TAP project, said the programme, which has a six-week duration, is online and would also give the students the opportunity of having an international network for establishing contacts across the globe for personal development.
According to him, the TAP project graduates stand to gain a lot of benefits especially from the four components of the programme that include intellectual leadership and economic capacity building and digital economy.
“Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria is the only university that has joined the programme because the MAAUN vision is beyond Nigeria and Africa,”
After the lecture, the UNESCO-REF TAP project flag was unveiled as part of activities to formalize the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two partners.
