The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Fadah, has Charge corps members to be Vangaurds of promoting peace, discipline and promote national unity during and after their service year.
Mohammad Fadah gave the Charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 corps members at the NYSC permanent Orientation Camp, Kusalla, Karaye Local Government Area of Kano State.
Represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Tata Muhammad, the DG urged the corps members to demonstrate high level of discipline and promote national unity.
The Director General encouraged the corps members to avail themselves with the opportunities for self employment offered through the skills acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Program during the three weeks orientation training.
He advised them against embarking on unauthorised journeys, adding that they should also avoid night journeys, be security-conscious and take cognisance of their personal safety.
“I implore you to sustain the high level of discipline and enthusiasm you have demonstrated so far, especially by remaining compliant with the camp rules and regulations.
General Fadah urged the corps members to avoid using the social media for spreading fake news, fuelling hatred and other negative purposes, rather they should deploy same avenue for the promotion of national unity and development.
In her remarks, the state coordinator Hajiya Aisha Tata Mohammad said the scheme was designed to equip the corps members for the task of the service year through lessons on the cardinal programmes and leadership coaching.
Represented by the Camp Director Hauwa Pembi Kafarda, enjoined them to avail themselves of the once-in-a-life-time opportunity by participating actively in all the camp activities.
She implored them to always find time to mediate over its spirit and letters, and be guided by same throughout the service year and beyond.
The Coordinator maintained that 1,193 corps members were registered in the camp out of which 379 we’re males and 814 females.
The ceremony was graced by heads of security agencies and other stakeholders.
