The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in their fight against crime, intercepting an armed suspect in possession of stolen police paraphernalia.
The operation took place on July 20, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, during an intelligence-led surveillance and anti-crime patrol operation targeting known hotspots within their Area of Responsibility .
The suspect, identified as Iniobong Ezekiel Sunday, a male resident of Adiasim Ikot Eko Village in INI Local Government Area, was intercepted at around 12:05 AM. A search of his bag revealed a cache of concerning items, including:
– One Locally Made Pistol_
– Stolen Police Uniforms_: One blue police uniform with a name tag identifying “EKPENYONG ATTE” and Force Number 062763, bearing the rank of Sergeant, and one black police uniform
– Police Photographs_
– Police Badges_: A pair of police badges
– _Inspector Rank and File Lanyard_
– Bicycle_
– Stolen Credentials_: Several credentials bearing the name “UKPONG HELINA TOM”
The suspect is currently undergoing profiling as investigations continue.
