The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone One Headquarters, Kano, AIG Garba Ahmed, has extended warm New Year greetings to the governments and people of Kano and Jigawa States, calling for unity, peace and cooperation as the year begins.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the New Year, AIG Garba Ahmed reassured residents of both states of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, particularly during the New Year celebrations and in the months ahead.
He disclosed that adequate security measures have been put in place across Kano and Jigawa States to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration, noting that officers and men under his command have been strategically deployed to critical locations to forestall any breach of law and order.
The AIG emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and urged members of the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive of security agencies in the discharge of their duties.
He encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the designated emergency hotlines.
AIG Garba Ahmed further appealed for sustained cooperation between the police and communities, stressing that timely and credible information from the public would go a long way in enhancing effective policing and ensuring lasting peace and stability in Kano and Jigawa States throughout the New Year and beyond.
