The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing as false claims that the party had withdrawn its backing through a group identified as the Arewa APC Forum.
In a statement issued on April 17, 2026, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Auwalu Abdullahi, described the purported withdrawal as misleading and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image and unity of the party in Kano State.
The party maintained that no recognized or constitutionally backed organ of the APC in the state had taken such a decision, stressing that the Kano chapter remains solidly behind President Tinubu and his administration’s policies and programmes.
According to the statement, the party is aware of attempts by certain individuals and unidentified groups to create confusion and disunity within its ranks, emphasizing that the so-called Arewa APC Forum is not known within the party’s structure and does not represent the views of its members.
The APC further expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his administration continues to focus on delivering good governance, implementing economic reforms, and advancing national development in line with its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Reiterating its stance, the Kano APC under the leadership of Umar Haruna Doguwa urged party members and the general public to disregard the statement in its entirety, describing it as the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on creating unnecessary tension within the party.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the unity of the party in Kano State and its unwavering commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria, insisting that the purported signatory to the withdrawal claim is faceless and not a stakeholder of the party at any level in the state.
