Senator Mohammed Sani Musa has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Niger East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections after his main challenger was disqualified by the party’s screening committee.

Barrister Bello Bawa Bwari (BBB) was not cleared by the APC electoral committee to contest the Niger East senatorial primary, leaving Senator Musa as the sole aspirant to be presented for the seat.

Party officials said the outcome followed the committee’s assessment of aspirants’ eligibility in line with the APC constitution and the Electoral Act 2022.

They added that there was no consensus arrangement adopted for the district.

Stakeholders said Senator Musa’s structure across the nine local government areas of the district, and his record of representation, positioned him to retain the seat for the APC.

Since 2019, Senator Musa has been credited with interventions in healthcare, education, agriculture, road construction, and youth and women empowerment across Niger East.

Through his scholarship scheme, hundreds of indigenes are studying in Nigeria and abroad. He has also facilitated the construction and equipping of hospitals, prioritised township roads, and supported farmers with tractors and implements to boost mechanisation and food security.

In addition, he has provided logistics and other forms of support to security agencies deployed in the district.

Residents described the senator as responsive and people-focused. Malam Mohammad Usman of Suleja said his son was studying medicine abroad through the senator’s support.

“We have had senators before, but they failed to represent us effectively. This time is different. I have my Permanent Voter’s Card and I am ready to vote for the APC and all its candidates,” he said.

Alhaji Abba Mohammad of Paikoro said constituents were prepared to vote en masse for APC candidates as directed by the senator.

“He has delivered in every ramification, and we are confident he will do more,” he said.

Hajiya Zainab Abu of Kagara said women in the district would turn out in large numbers to vote for Senator Musa, describing him as a sincere leader with the interest of the downtrodden at heart.
