Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Chairman of the Council of Ulamas of Nigeria, has called on Nigerians to support the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the forthcoming election.
Jingir made the call while speaking with newsmen in Kano, stressing that his position was his personal opinion and did not represent the official position of the Council of Ulama.
He said he would continue to express his views on national issues because, as a Nigerian citizen, he had the right to express his opinion and exercise his freedom of speech.
The cleric urged Nigerians to consider the Muslim-Muslim ticket in the interest of the country, noting that Muslims were peace-loving people who had continued to contribute to the development and peaceful coexistence of the nation.
Jingir said history had shown that Muslims had played significant roles in promoting peace and national development, urging citizens to appreciate such contributions while making decisions during elections.
