…Urges Support for Renewed Hope Agenda, Warns Against Repeating PDP’s Mistake

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, describing his administration’s performance and the established zoning convention as compelling grounds for continuity.

Speaking at a strategic meeting of Renewed Hope Ambassadors Coordinators in Kano, Engr. Bichi asserted that President Tinubu’s leadership is anchored on a clear, long-term development blueprint—the Renewed Hope Agenda—which is already driving critical reforms in the economy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy, security, and public service delivery.

Bichi argued that sustainable national development is impossible without policy consistency, pointing out that nations with transformative progress maintain their programmes across electoral cycles rather than discarding them with each change of leadership. He emphasised that the current economic reforms, despite temporary pains, are essential for repositioning Nigeria for long-term growth and prosperity.

He further urged APC coordinators and supporters to intensify grassroots engagement, explaining the objectives of the administration’s policies to the public and countering misinformation with facts.

In a strong political admonition, Bichi warned against the danger of abandoning the informal zoning arrangement that has stabilised the nation’s polity. He noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid dearly for disregarding this unwritten rule—first in 2015 when President Goodluck Jonathan contested against southern consensus, leading to the party’s defeat, and again in 2023 when the PDP zoned its ticket to the North, alienating southern supporters and further eroding its electoral fortunes.

“There is a wise saying: we learn from experience, but we must not learn only from our own experience. We must learn from the mistakes of others,” Bichi stated. He urged political and religious leaders to reflect deeply and act with foresight, drawing lessons from the NADECO era and other moments in Nigeria’s history when political miscalculations led to national turmoil.

He called on leaders across the country to see President Tinubu’s second term as not just a right earned by performance, but a necessary step to preserve the rotational understanding between the North and South, which has become a cornerstone of Nigeria’s political stability.

“Let us not be led into that situation again,” Bichi cautioned, stressing that the North and South must continue to honour the gentlemen’s agreement that promotes inclusivity, fairness, and unity in governance.

The APC stalwart concluded by expressing confidence in the President’s vision and urged all Nigerians to appreciate the ongoing progress, assuring that continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda will usher in greater national prosperity.
