The Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. V.U. Okoro, has reiterated the Army’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of its personnel to maintain professional standards and enhance operational effectiveness.
Okoro stated this on Monday at the opening of the 2026 Training Workshop of the Nigerian Army School of Legal Services (NASLS), Basawa, Zaria.
He described the annual workshop as a platform for participants from the Armed Forces, security agencies, judiciary, academia and other professional bodies to exchange knowledge and strengthen their capacity in legal and investigative matters.
The Chief of Training noted that insecurity remained a major threat to Nigeria’s peace and development, with its effects extending beyond the battlefield to communities, places of worship and homes.
He stressed that the Armed Forces remained a key pillar of the nation’s security architecture, adding that collaboration with other security agencies and regional partners was essential to addressing insecurity.
Okoro emphasised that such collaboration must be anchored on respect for the rule of law, professionalism and effective coordination among relevant stakeholders.
He said continuous capacity building remained critical to equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills required to effectively respond to emerging security challenges.
