Kano Police to Mark International Youth Day With Medical Outreach, Youth Dialogue

The Kano State Police Command says it will commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day with a series of activities, including a medical outreach, public enlightenment programme, youth dialogue and campaign against political and digital thuggery.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the activities were organised in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and would be held under the United Nations theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

The command said a free medical outreach would be conducted on Tuesday at Sharada Phase II Quarters in Kano Municipal Local Government Area as part of efforts to promote healthy living, community trust and stronger police-community relations.

It added that a live public enlightenment programme would be aired on Dala FM 88.5 at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, focusing on youth participation in crime prevention, the dangers of political and digital thuggery, and channels for reporting security concerns.

The command said the major youth engagement would take place on Wednesday at its headquarters in Bompai, Kano, featuring a moderated Police-Youth Dialogue on security, public trust, crime prevention, responsible citizenship and police-youth partnership.

It said the occasion would also witness the launch of the Kano State campaign, “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,” aimed at discouraging youths from involvement in political violence, electoral thuggery, digital manipulation and exploitation.

The statement said various youth groups, including lawyers, civil society organisations, students, journalists, female youth groups, people with special needs, media influencers, young footballers, marketers and other stakeholders would participate in the engagement.

CP Bakori reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive and community-oriented policing, urging youths to take ownership of the initiatives and become ambassadors of peace, lawfulness and responsible digital citizenship.
