Armed bandits have abducted the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata.
The traditional ruler was abducted during a late-night attack on the community on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.
The attackers, who reportedly invaded the village with sophisticated weapons, whisked away the monarch to an unknown destination, causing panic among residents.
The incident was confirmed on Friday by Mahi Isma’il, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and District Head of Jogana, who described the development as a setback to the peace and security of the area.
Isma’il said the incident had heightened fear and uncertainty among residents, particularly families and community leaders concerned about the safety of the abducted monarch.
Reacting to the incident, the District Head of Jogana, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate release of the village head and strengthen security in vulnerable rural communities.
“We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe return of our village head,” Ma’aji said.
He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, while supporting security agencies through vigilance and cooperation.
The district head also called on members of the public to pray for the safe release of Ahmad, expressing hope that he would soon reunite with his family and the people of Aujarawar Alkali.
