An expert on security, Mr Auwal Bala-Duruminiya, has urged the Federal Government to establish Centre for Intelligence Research that would provide information to security agents on criminal activities.
He gave the advise at a one-day National Prayer and Seminar on effects of drugs to the security and its negative impact to the national, social and economic development organised by Trusted Northern Youth Awareness, in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, Held in Kano.
Auwal Bala Durumin-Iya said that the centre would comprise experts like sociologists, psychologists, criminologists, historians and religious leaders, and other related professionals .
He said tne experts would be conducting research on crimes, causes, impact and make recommendations to government on preventive measures.
“the centre would also be supplying intelligence to security agents for prompt actions”
Bala-Duruminiya also advised the government to create forest marshals who would safeguard the forests from criminals.
“Bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals perpetuate their acts in towns and cities, but go to the forests and demand for ransom.
“People should stop paying ransom, because they use the ransom to buy weapons and drugs,”
In his remarks, the NDLEA State Commandant, Mr Isa Likita-Mohammed, commended Kano government for introducing drug test to political office holders before giving them appointment.
Earlier, President of the association, Sani Ibrahim, said the seminar was aimed at creating awareness on the menace of drug abuse in the society.
He Added that unemployment was among the major causes criminal acts among youths , hence the need for the governments and others stakeholders to take measures that would address the situation.
