The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its determination to strengthen the capacity of information managers as part of efforts to enhance accurate and credible dissemination of information to the public.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known while declaring open a workshop for information officers in the state, emphasizing the critical role of effective communication in governance and public engagement.
Represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk, the governor stated that the present administration remains committed to improving the skills and competencies of information managers.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at ensuring that only verified and reliable information reaches the public, thereby promoting transparency and trust in government activities.
He urged participants to take full advantage of the training by embracing modern techniques and tools of information dissemination, which are essential in today’s fast-evolving media landscape.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Information and International Affairs, Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, explained that the workshop was designed to equip information officers with the necessary knowledge and strategies to address emerging challenges in the field of communication.
According to him, the training brings together resource persons from academia and seasoned information experts to interact with participants and share practical insights that would enhance effective service delivery.
The commissioner commended the Kano State Government for its unwavering support in making the workshop a reality and encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunity to improve their professional capabilities.
The workshop is expected to strengthen the overall communication framework within government institutions in Kano State, ensuring timely, accurate, and impactful dissemination of information to the public.
