Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the release of N300 million to support beneficiaries of the state’s Hisbah Mass Wedding Scheme, an initiative aimed at assisting newly married couples.

The Chairman of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, disclosed this on Thursday during a pre-marital orientation programme for prospective couples held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.

Daurawa said each bride would receive N200,000 to cover dowry and serve as start-up capital, adding that the funds would be paid directly into the beneficiaries’ individual bank accounts.

He also said the state government would provide household furniture for the newly married couples, while each groom would receive 10 yards of fabric, a cap, shoes and food items.

According to him, the intervention is designed to ease the financial burden on couples at the beginning of married life and promote stable families.

He added that the state government would host a mass wedding reception on Saturday at the Government House, where prominent Islamic scholars from across the country are expected to offer prayers for the couples.

The Hisbah chairman urged prospective husbands to treat their wives with love, fairness and responsibility, while advising brides to be patient and supportive in building peaceful homes.

He also reiterated the board’s commitment to resolving marital disputes through reconciliation before divorce and appealed to beneficiaries of previous editions of the scheme to attend the reception to encourage the new couples.
