The Centre for Information Technology and Development CITAD, with support from Ford Foundation, has trained over 50 secondary school teachers in Kano on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills to boost the teaching and learning of ICT in the state.
Zainab Aminu, the Centre’s Gender Officer, speaking during the opening remark of the training held simultaneously at Government Girls Secondary School Janbulo and Government Girls Secondary School Aisami said the participants were selected from 11 schools to enhance their capacities for a positive impact.
She explained that the training will serve as a channel for training students on the basics of ICT skills, use of computer, internet utilization and reporting cases of gender based violence in the state and particularly in learning environment.
She revealed that the fully furnished training Centres in GGSS Janbulo and GGSS Aisami with an uninterrupted power supply were constituted by CITAD as part of its strategy to facelift the teaching and learning of ICT in Kano State.
In her remark, the Principal of GGSS Janbulo, Haj. Saliha Abdullahi Karaye commended CITAD for organizing the training, adding that the teachers are now primed to step down the training to students and urged them to keep themselves abreast with the knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for an improved learning and teaching processes.
CITAD has over the years known for its digital intervention through training, influencing policies on ICT, and donation of computer systems to schools as part of the organization’s effort to bridge the digital divide among citizens.
