Nowadays, the pursuit of power through crafted ingenuity has become a norm in Nigeria’s political landscape.
For some is either to scout power and influence or a shortcut to financial accomplishment, whereas a handful among them are vowing to serve the people wholeheartedly in their elected capacities.
Most [some] Politicians which are said to be devoid of ideology, but for their inner, wishful dividends, resort to cross-carpeting and pitching tents to other parties in search of greener pastures at the expense of gullible followers with deep-seated neurosis.
Politics have now become a modern enterprise where the numerical strength of followers is a huge capital and determinant of garnering influences leading to the fulfillment of the desired goals.
The lip-service, mouth-watering rhetoric and sugar-coated oratory under the facade of spirituality, nationalistic or regional inclinations are the greases usually applies to lubricate the knees, elbows, and even the emotion of the die-hard and blinded disciples to stimulate their never-ending enthusiasm for supporting their idolized party leader.
Since the advent of Nigeria’s third Republic, jumping from one party to another is seemingly paving the way for becoming a generational political attitude.
Unfortunately, it has become traditional, that whenever a politician has a premonition that he’s about to be thrown under the dustbin of political irrelevancy in the party, he would resort to making flimsy excuses under the charade of injustice to warrant his decamping to another party.
With regards to what’s presently going on within the Kano political terrain of a tug-of-war between Senator Kwankwaso and NNPP’s presidential aspirant versus Sardaunan Kano, Mallam Shekarau, whereas the Sardauna reportedly decamped to the PDP, from NNPP being a victim of alleged injustices by joining the bandwagon of political billionaire and presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar.
At the time, Senator Kwankwaso, the ex-PDP member, a party that catapulted him from scratch to the pinnacle of amassing fortunes and connections granted him, by the destined political opportunities
But, Kwankwaso sighting walking into the dark tunnel of political uncertainty, decamped to NNPP, blamed and denounced his former party, which raised him to the status of greatness, and branded PDP as the dying party, who have nothing more to offer for the growth of the Nigerians and the nation at large.
And now he was accused by his opponent Senator Shekarau of being shortchanged of plugging the chances of his disciples to contest in NNPP.
By any stretch of the imagination, one may beg for the answers to the questions that depicted the status of nowadays politics. Isn’t politics for salvation, bread, and butter, double-cross, or neo-political entrepreneurship?
Anyway, the time is not yet to judge the magnitude of how Senator Shekarau tests the depth of the water with both feet and what kind of justice is he anticipating by decamping to PDP, for himself only or for the rest of his disciples denied slots for candidature in NNPP
And we should also wait to see whether Senator Kwankwaso is a real double-crosser, who harbors political grudges in anticipation of the good time to strike on.
