KANO – The Rotary Club of Kano Dala Sunrise has distributed learning materials to vulnerable pupils as part of its efforts to support basic education and literacy in the state.
The distribution exercise, which marked the inauguration of the club’s Empowers Young Learners with Basic Education and Literacy Project, was held at Natsugune Primary School, Jaba, in Fagge Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Club, Rotarian Hassan Taiye Maye, said the intervention is aimed at uplifting underprivileged children and ensuring they have access to essential learning tools.
He explained that 50 pupils were selected for the first phase of the project during the current school session, with plans to expand the outreach in subsequent phases.
“Our focus is to empower young learners with the necessary foundation to succeed academically and socially.
This project is one of Rotary’s commitments to advancing education in our communities,” he stated.
Also speaking, the District Governor of Rotary International, Dame (Dr.) Princess Joy Nky Okoro, who was in Kano to witness the exercise, described the gesture as a milestone toward enhancing the quality of education in the state.

She disclosed that Rotary will further support Natsugune Primary School by providing toilet facilities and other basic infrastructure to improve the learning environment.
In his remarks, the Headmaster of the school, Malam Bashir Magaji, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for what he described as a timely and impactful gesture.

He noted that the support would not only motivate the pupils but also ease the burden on parents.
The event attracted community leaders, education stakeholders, and representatives of Rotary International, who all lauded the initiative and pledged continued support for educational development in Kano
