The Zamfara State Police Command has foiled a bandits’ attack at Gidan Fulani Village under Yandoto area of Tsafe Local Government Area, neutralizing one suspected bandit during a gun duel with security operatives.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the incident occurred on Thursday, May 22, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m. when a group of armed bandits invaded the community with the intention of carrying out criminal activities.
The statement said the attackers, who were armed with Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and AK-47 rifles, were confronted by police operatives on duty in collaboration with members of the community.
During the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspected bandits was neutralized, while several others reportedly escaped into a nearby bush with possible gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, commended the gallantry, resilience, and professionalism displayed by the police operatives and community members during the operation.
He reassured residents of Zamfara State of the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against banditry and other violent crimes across the state.
The police commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that would assist ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities.
He further urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and activities through the command’s emergency lines.
