CP Bakori Charges Kano Police Commanders on Neutrality, Professionalism for 2027 Elections

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has charged operational commanders in the state to remain neutral, professional and non-partisan in the discharge of their duties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bakori gave the charge on Monday at a strategic lecture on Election Security Management held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Bompai, Kano.

The lecture was attended by Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, heads of tactical and operational units and other senior officers of the command.

The commissioner commended the officers for their dedication and commitment to crime prevention and control, which he said had contributed to the prevailing peace and stability in the state.

He urged them to remain absolutely neutral and apolitical, particularly during the ongoing political campaigns and preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Bakori stressed that the Nigeria Police Force had a constitutional responsibility to provide a level playing field for all political parties and actors, warning that officers found engaging in partisan politics or compromising the electoral process would face disciplinary action.

He also directed the commanders to uphold professionalism, respect human rights and the rule of law, and discharge their responsibilities with integrity to sustain public confidence in the police.

The commissioner called for stronger community partnerships and intelligence-led policing to ensure a peaceful, credible and orderly electoral process in Kano.

He said the command, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, remained committed to providing adequate security before, during and after the 2027 general elections. The identity and current role of IGP Disu are also reflected in official Nigeria Police Force publications.

Bakori urged residents, political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He warned that the command would not condone acts capable of threatening public peace.
