Tinubu Nominates Former Sports Minister Sani Ndanusa as Ambassador, High Commissioner

President Bola Tinubu has nominated former Minister of Sports, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, as a non-career Ambassador/High Commissioner-designate.

The nomination was contained in a letter forwarded by the President to the Senate and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary on Sept. 29. The nomination was subsequently referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening and consideration.

Ndanusa, the Marafan Nupe, previously served as Minister of Sports and has also been involved in politics in Niger State, where he sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in 2023.

The Senate also received Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), alongside six nominees as members of the commission.

The FRC nominees include Muhammad Asma’u, Muhammad Aliyu Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Hon. Louis Ndukwe, Amechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola. Their nominations were referred to the Senate Committee on Finance for screening.

The President also nominated Wakil Bulka as a member of the Federal Civil Service Commission, representing Bauchi, Borno and Yobe states.

His nomination was referred to the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, while the committees handling the various nominations were given two weeks to consider them and submit their reports to the Senate.
