The First Lady of Jigawa State and Tuberculosis Ambassador, Dr. Amina Umar Namadi, has urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against tuberculosis (TB), describing the disease as a preventable and curable condition that still poses a serious public health challenge.
In a message to mark World Tuberculosis Day, Dr. Namadi emphasized the importance of raising awareness, encouraging early testing, and ensuring strict adherence to treatment.
She noted that many lives can be saved if individuals seek medical attention promptly and complete their medication as prescribed.
She highlighted the need to break the stigma and misconceptions surrounding TB, which often prevent affected persons from coming forward for diagnosis and care.
According to her, communities must play an active role in supporting patients and promoting accurate information about the disease.
Dr.Amina Umar Namadi further called on stakeholders, including healthcare workers, community leaders, and development partners, to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at eradicating TB.
She stressed the importance of expanding access to quality healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable and underserved populations.
Reaffirming her commitment as a TB ambassador, she pledged to continue advocating for increased awareness and improved interventions to curb the spread of the disease.
She encouraged citizens to take advantage of available health services, noting that early detection and proper treatment remain the most effective tools in ending tuberculosis.
The advocacy aligns with global efforts to eliminate TB and serves as a reminder that collective responsibility and sustained action are essential in achieving a TB-free society.
