The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has raided the old campus area of Bayero University Kano (BUK), arresting six suspected drug offenders and dismantling several illicit drug joints.

The public relations officer of the agency in Kano ASN Sadiq Maigatari disclosed this to newsmen in Kano.

He sais the operation, carried out under “Operation Sharar Mafaka,” followed a formal complaint from the management of Bayero University Kano over the activities of individuals allegedly using parts of the campus and surrounding areas for drug trading and consumption.

During the raid, operatives arrested six suspects described as trespassers and seized items linked to illicit drug activities, which were subsequently rendered unusable.

Commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, said the operation reflects the agency’s resolve to ensure a safe and drug-free environment for students, staff and residents within the university community.

He added that the command would sustain its enforcement drive under Operation Sharar Mafaka to identify, dislodge and take over locations used for illegal drug activities across the state.

The NDLEA also commended the university management for its cooperation, noting that the timely report enabled a swift and targeted intervention to address the security concern.

The command further warned individuals against using government institutions or public spaces for drug-related activities, urging members of the public to provide credible information that would aid in uncovering and dismantling remaining drug networks.
