The Federal Government has stepped up monitoring of the Kano–Zaria–Kaduna rail line, with senior officials inspecting train stations, bridges and other key infrastructure .
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Engineer Funsho Adebiyi, led a team of engineers and professionals on the tour, reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality and timely delivery.
“We are committed to ensuring quality work and timely completion of these rail projects because of their importance to national development,” Adebiyi said.
At Makarfi station, the team assessed the pace of work and inspected installations, including railway fittings and related infrastructure.
The delegation also visited Zaria station, where progress on facilities and bridge construction was evaluated.
Adebiyi said the exercise was aimed at identifying areas requiring urgent attention and ensuring contractors adhere strictly to engineering and safety standards.
“This project is not just about rail tracks and stations. It is about improving mobility, creating jobs, boosting trade and opening up economic opportunities for our people,” he added.
He noted that the rail development is a key part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at transforming transportation and driving economic growth nationwide.
The inspection team continued along sections toward Kaduna to review ongoing construction and overall progress.
When completed, the Kano–Zaria–Kaduna rail corridor is expected to ease the movement of passengers and goods, reduce pressure on highways, and strengthen economic links across northern Nigeria.
