The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter has marked the International Day of the Girl Child alongside Maulud with a one-day symposium.
The event, held in Kano, brought together distinguished speakers and guests who advocated for the advancement and empowerment of women and girls.
In attendance were prominent figures that included Sayyida Habashiyya Sheikh Nasir Kabara, Malama Hauwa Salisu Gaya, Hajiya Salma Yusuf and Hadiza Muhammad of NTA Kano, who shared their insights on the role of women in the media and the importance of supporting young girls to achieve their full potentials.
The Hon. Commissioner of Information, Comrade Baba Halilu Dantiye, graced the occasion and offered valuable comments that underscored the significance of women in leadership and media.
NAWOJ extended heartfelt appreciation to him and the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Hafsat Ilyas Aliyu, for their unwavering support.
NAWOJ also recognized and thanked all women in the media who had been playing a pivotal role in uplifting the voices of womenfolk.

The association expressed gratitude to them and hailed their immense contributions to the profession.
Special acknowledgment was given to His Excellency, Alhaji Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support to the development of women and girls, especially those in the journalism profession.
This symposium is a testament to NAWOJ’s commitment to the empowerment of women and girls in Kano State and beyond.
